Good morning! Here’s the details of our Wednesday hike. We’re leaving a little earlier than usual: 8:15 am
When: Wednesday, August 23
Time: 8:15 am (Leaving early)
Meeting Place: Ocean Beach Recreation Center, 4726 Santa Monica Ave.
Distance: 6 miles, 600 – 900 feet of elevation gain
From the recreation center, we will walk up a steep hill to Point Loma Heights and walk along the Point Loma Heights neighborhood with views of the ocean, down to Sunset Cliffs to the SC Natural Park, turn around for a reverse view of the cliffs and back up to Point Loma Heights (another steep hill) and walk along some different streets, and back down to Ocean Beach Rec Center. The elevation gain is my best estimate. Please note, there are two steep hills on this walk. We can stop to rest if needed.
Parking is in the neighborhood. We’re leaving earlier this week – 8:15 am.
Please bring water, snacks, sunblock, etc. The weather forecast is mid 70s.
After the hike, please join us for a bite to eat at Azucar Cuban bakery. They serve Cuban-style sandwiches and pastries. Marsha told us about this bakery last time we went to Sunset Cliffs and we want to go again!!! It's about three blocks from the recreation center and we will walk there.
