Lenore’s Saturday Hike

Hello, Friends! I invite you to join me this Saturday for a walk in Escondido at Kit Carson Park. Please see the walk description below. Note that there is no restroom at the trailhead but we will have one available at about 2.5 miles in. This picture shows a detail of the beautiful mosaic artwork you can expect to see on the sculptures at Queen Califia’s Magic Garden. I hope to see you then!

SATURDAY, APRIL 22

9:30 am

KIT CARSON PARK & MAGIC GARDEN. On our visit to Escondido’s Kit Carson Park, we’ll traverse its trails and sidewalks, getting views of a couple of little lakes with plentiful bird life. We’ll also have the opportunity to visit the whimsical and colorful Queen Califia’s Magic Garden, created by the late artist Niki de Saint Phalle – you don’t want to miss this! This approximately 3.75 mile, moderate-paced walk does include some hills and dirt trails. Meet at the far end of the parking lot behind J.C. Penney store at North County Mall, along Beethoven Dr., just across from the bus stop. From Highway 15, exit at Via Rancho Parkway and go east as it changes name to Bear Valley Parkway. Turn left at Beethoven Dr, then left at the stop sign.  Email, text or call: Lenore E. (619) 890-0714 (ledidin@san.rr.com)
