Hello, Friends! How have you all been faring in this long heat wave? It hasn’t been easy for me, but I’m holding out hope that Saturday’s weather will allow us to proceed with my walk (details below). There is a chance for rain, and if it is raining at the time, or if an excessive heat warning is still in effect for Solana Beach, I will cancel the walk and do it another time. But let’s think positively and hope we can meet for a fun outing, and maybe see a pretty butterfly like this one I saw there last month.
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 10
9:30 am
SAN ELIJO LAGOON LOOP. Let’s hike along some scenic trails of the San Elijo Lagoon on this approximately 6-mile, moderate-paced loop in the Solana Beach area. We’ll visit the Harbaugh Seaside Trails, enjoying the native plants and ocean views along its paths. The trail will take us over two bridges providing panoramic views over this wetland area, followed by a brief visit to the San Elijo Lagoon Visitor Center. We’ll also get to traverse the recently installed pedestrian bridge under Highway 5. Be prepared for some gradual, but long, uphill and downhill sections. Meet in front of Sprouts at 659 Lomas Santa Fe Dr. Take the Lomas Santa Fe Dr. exit off Highway 5 and go west. Then turn left at Solana Hills Dr. Sprouts will be to your right.
