Wednesday Wilderness Standard Hike, September 7, 2022
“Bird Rock Hike”
10+ miles, 2.5 pace, elevation gain 200 ft.
8 AM start time. No Mission Valley carpool.
You must be fully COVID vaccinated to come on this hike.
This “hike” takes us from South Mission Beach to Bird Rock along the Mission Beach Boardwalk and then
along ocean front mansions. We will have good shade on our way out as the sun rises over the Mission
Beach houses. Coming back, we will have little shade, but depending on hiker preference, we can do
some of the walk back along the water.
Pack a snack and at least 2 L of water. Forecast is for a high in the mid-80s. Make sure you have sunblock
and a hat. We should finish by lunchtime.

Directions: From I-8 West, take West Mission Bay Drive to Mission Boulevard. Turn left on Mission
Boulevard, travel to the dead end. Go right on N Jetty Road and park in the lot. We will meet at the rest
rooms. GPS is 32.75974° N, 117.25217° W.
