WALKABOUT WILDERNESS HIKE – LITE
SATURDAY, APRIL 2ND, 2022.  HELIX FLUME TRAIL
This replaces Bill Clarks hike listed in the newsletter
WE WILL DEPART AT 9:00 AM.  This will be an exploratory in and out hike and we can make it as long or short as we want, with an elevation of about 1200′.  We have an uphill at the beginning with most of the trail being fairly flat. Brush may be overgrown so you may want to wear long pants.

Bring a snack, lunch and water.  Boots and hiking poles are recommended.

DIRECTIONS: I-8 East to 67, turn right on Mapleview St. follow that street all the way and look for El Monte Rd. and turn left.  Soon after you get on El Monte Rd. and at about .5 miles on your right look for the Old El Monte Pump Station, a tan building surrounded by a tall fence, look for a small flume sign, go through the narrow entrance to the back of the building and park.  At first it does not look like there is an entrance but take a closer look and you will see it.
