Walkabout Wilderness Hikers

Hi all you good hikers. Well fall is about to arrive and the worst of Covid is hopefully over. The Wilderness Group of Walkabout, used to have about half a dozen plus people that were “hike leaders”. The criteria for becoming a hike leader are not difficult and mainly consists of a willingness to lead a hike once every month or so, usually in the local mountains as weather permits. We had also started to split a bit into two groups. Wilderness and Wilderness-lite. The main separating criteria was basically the Wilderness-lite hikes were less than 8 miles and generally a bit easier and Wilderness hikes were 10+ miles over any hikable terrain.  I’d like to see us start to publish the hikes again as we did pre-covid but I need your assistance. I’d like to know how many of you might participate as hike leaders and for which group. Right now I’m not looking for a commitment, just a potential interest.  Provided that you might be willing to lead, please just reply to this email and let me know your name and what group(s) you are interested in.
Mark your calendars. How about a short hike, let’s say around 5 miles, out of Red Tailed Roost, and then a potluck where we can discuss all of this and anything else the groups might like to think about. Let’s set Saturday November 6, 2021 at 9:00 start time. Hopefully it will be a beautiful Fall Laguna day and we should be done by early afternoon. Details will be sent a week before the event.
