Walkabout Wilderness Standard Hike

November 9, 2022

Harvey Moore Circuit
Cuyamaca Rancho State Park
Start time: 9 AM

Today’s hike is 10 miles with approximately 1200’ total elevation gain.

We will meet at the Cuyamaca Rancho State Park Visitor Center parking area.  You will need your California State Parks Golden Bear Pass to park here.

We will head south out of the visitor center to connect to the East Side Trail.  We will then go north for 0.3 mi to the Dyar Spring Trail; and then an additional 0.8 mile north to the Harvey Moore Trail.  We will walk the entire Harvey Moore trail loop of 6 miles and then connect to the Pine Trail for 0.8 miles.  From there, we will connect to the Juaquapin Trail and then back onto the East Side Trail to the Visitor Center.

There are toilets available at the Cuyamaca Rancho State Park Visitor Center.

Pack snack, lunch & water. Forecast for Wednesday is cloudy & breezy with a high of 44 with a 10% chance of rain.  Wear layers, bring gloves and pack your rain gear.  The trails are likely to be muddy due to rains forecast for the prior day, so I suggest waterproof boots.
