WEDNESDAY STANDARD WILDERNESS HIKE – August 10, 2022

CORONADO from Spreckels Park to the Bay side of Silver Strand State Beach: Distance 10 miles, 2.5 pace This walk is an out and back, along C Avenue, Orange Avenue, and the Bayshore Bikeway.
Walk starts at 8:30 A.M.

You must be fully vaccinated to join this hike.

We will meet at the Spreckels Park, 601 Orange Ave, Coronado, CA 92118, at 6th St. and Orange Ave. near the restrooms at the NW end of the park. We will walk south down C Avenue to Orange Avenue past the Hotel del Coronado. Orange Avenue becomes Silver Strand Blvd., and we’ll walk past Glorietta Bay, Glorietta Bay Park, and the Naval Amphibious Base of Coronado. Then we’ll connect to the Bayshore Bikeway and walk on that as well as the “Nature’s Bridge to Discovery” Trail to the bayside of Silver Strand State Park. Along the trail we will pass wetlands with a possibility of seeing osprey, least tern, and other birds. Maybe even a sting ray in the bay. At the Silver Strand State Beach bayside we’ll have a nutrition break, and then return to Spreckels Park.  You may have lunch at the park, in town, or leave to have lunch at home. The forecast for Wednesday is sunny with a high of 72 at the coast. Call Sherry at 619-887-0055 or e-mail at sherry.rokarty@gmail.com with questions.
