(PCT from Campo to Hauser Canyon)

Mission Valley carpool: if there is one, departs at 7:00 AM
Here is your chance to hike the first 12 miles of the 2,650 mile PCT. This 13.5-mile hike will start where the PCT crosses Hwy 94 in Campo and proceeds for the first 12 miles on the PCT ending in Hauser Canyon. The last mile is on a dirt road taking us back to half of our parked cars. This hike is mostly on a gentle to moderate, but consistent, incline or decline with total vertical gain of about 2,100 feet.
We will all meet up at the Buckman Springs Rest Area at Exit 51, the Buckman Springs Road off ramp from I-8. Be prepared to leave the Rest Area at 8 AM to shuttle the cars between the finish in Campo and the start at Hauser Canyon.
Pack snack, lunch, and water. Forecast is mostly sunny with highs in the mid 50’s and lows in the mid 30’s. Please be prepared to either shuttle other hikers in your car or to be shuttled on this hike. The road in and out of Hauser Canyon is a somewhat bumpy dirt road. Chance of showers, check Wednesday morning at 6AM to see if hike is on.

To Campo, CA 92106: From the rest area turn left on Buckman Springs Rd., after approximately 10 miles, turn right on Hwy 94 and drive 2.1 miles to the junction of Hwy. 94 and PCT to park. To Hauser Canyon: From the rest area turn left on Buckman Springs Rd. and drive 5.5 miles. Turn right onto Oak Dr. and drive 1.7 miles (you will cross Lake Morena Dr. and turn left on Lupine Dr./Hauser Creek Rd. Drive to end to park. Parking GPS: 32.65537, -116.52338
