WEDNESDAY WILDERNESS STANDARD HIKE  — April 26, 2023

The hike will leave the trailhead promptly at 8:30 AM

Cuyamaca Rancho State Park

Miles = 10 ish

Elevation gain = 1200+ feet

Trailhead –

This will be a moderately fast-paced hike; averaging at least 2.5 mph.  We will be hiking the majority of the time on the west side of Highway 79.  From the trailhead parkuing lot at East Mesa Fire Road we will travel the East Side Trail to Harvey Moore, then head west to cross the highway and pick up the West Side trail to travel Airplane Monument, Arroyo Seco, and Pine Ridge Trails before ending at Green Valley Campground to cross the highway again for a short trip back on the East Side Trail to our vehicles.  There is a lot of elevation gain and loss on the trail, but the views are totally worth it.   Optional stop at Airplane Monument,

Please bring sunscreen and a hat as there is little shade on the trail.  You should have at least 2 liters of water, a snack if you want one, and lunch.

Forecast is mostly sunny.  It will be about 60 degrees when we start with a high near 75.  There will be a breeze, but be prepared for the heat and brings lots of water As always, check the weather forecast the night before the hike.
